History

The ‘‘Great Persian Encyclopedia Foundation’’ was stablished in 1993 by the late Professor Ahmad Birashak. In 2009, this foundation was renamed to the “Iranian Encyclopedia Foundation". In July 2018, the foundation joined the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studied with the approval ofthe Councilfor Higher Education Development joined with the title of "Faculty of Encyclopedia Compiling"

Currently, this faculty has 4 main research groups, entitled as ‘‘Interdisciplinary Studies’’, ‘‘Humanities’’, ‘‘Empirical Sciences’’ and ‘‘Natural Sciences’’, and it operates as one of the faculties at the Institutes for Humanities and Cultural Studies.The most important function of this faculty is compiling reference booksand encyclopedias.

Objectives

- Compiling and translating reference books as specialized dictionaries and general and specialized encyclopedias

-Performingresearches in accordance with the research plans of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies and the macro policies of the country.

Scientific and Educational Activities

- Completing over 80 volumes of encyclopedias

- Obtaining the Book of the Year Award of the Islamic Republic of Iran:

Academic Biography of Scholars 1997;

Encyclopedia of Biology 2007;

Encyclopedia of Entrepreneurship 2019.

- Conducting intra- and extra-organizational projects;

- Presenting workshops and training courses.
